  • Game on!

So I haven’t posted on the regular in a minute, so I figured I owed you guys one. Work has been kicking my bootay and I am loving it. Put me on a project, and I shine. No direction? None needed. I will do what it takes to get it done. Lead, follow or get the %*$# out of my way. I love that motto. Thank you, madre.

Anywho, so I’ve been working on a project and I’m so pleased with how it came out. I’m anxious to see how it improves performance, morale, etc.

In other news, I’ve been busy with work functions. Whoopididoo! I work for the company that sponsored the FIFA World Cup Trophy tour and it made a pit stop in my home town. We took our pals from Lake Jackson and got our pic with the trophy. It was a gorgeous day and we really enjoyed ourselves. We got to get in early and snap a pic ahead of the super LONG line. By the time we left, the time one had to wait in line was up to 4 hours, and people were actually waiting, baking themselves in the sun for a chance to see that trophy. I definitely was a proud employee that day.

We also took our pals to my first soccer game. Mexico vs. Angola. That was friggity nuts. I have pics and vid, but don’t feel like uploading right now. I’ll post them sometime soon though. Every five minutes there was a parade. People would bang on drums, sing songs, dance. It reminded me of Chinese New Year only without the dragons. I had a great time at the game and the beer was delicious.

My brother’s BFF turned 30 today. Whee! So glad he did it first. Heeheehee. My time is a coming though. That’s for sure.

We visited our pals in Lake Jackson over the weekend and had some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. Soooooo good.

Cowboy and I are good and that’s wonderful. The comfy phase has finally settled in and I’m loving that. We bought a new bed and I’ve been sleeping like a baby ever since. The pillows are memory foam as well so no more snoring. Ma’an, you should try that. Protected post is a coming. Gotta write about the big work project and that requires some protection.

  • Cowboy silliness

Hubs schedule has finally changed. Can I get an Amen? We finally have one day off together and it’s been, um, interesting. I so needed a haircut, and some color on my grays so I spent most of my day dealing with that. Hubs wanted to make dinner. Yay! He threw some steaks on the grill and I was in charge of baked potatoes. He realized we didn’t have any steak sauce (I don’t/didn’t need it, but he wanted it) and went to the store to get it and asked me to watch them. They were soon done, so I removed them and put them on a plate next to the grill since the sausage didn’t look done yet. He got home, and went to take the sausage off the grill and somehow managed to drop the plate. D’oh! I wasn’t upset, although, I was a bit sad that I wouldn’t get to bite into the juicy steak. He was noticeably upset. I ran to hug him and tell him that it was ok, shit happens, etc. but it was too late, I could tell he was going to remain upset for the rest of the day regardless of what I said or did.

He then wanted to go out to eat, but I knew that spending more money would only leave him in a deeper depression and seeing him already defeated, I didn’t want to take pouty face to a restaurant for him to display it. So then he makes a pizza for me as the back-up plan. When it was done I asked him if he wanted any, but nope, he was going to remain pouty face. Boo! I had a piece of pizza and realized that the baked potatoes were just about done. I go into the kitchen where hubs already is. I asked him, is that both potatoes? Yep. There he is, dressing both of them, FOR himself. He didn’t ask me if I wanted any, which I’m still surprised by. I did give him the benefit of the doubt. I was hoping that it was only one of them, but nope, it was both, for him. I did remind him that he didn’t even ask if I wanted any, and how I had at least asked him if he wanted me to serve him some pizza. Apparently all this equals me being selfish? I’m baffled, ladies/gents. Baffled.

I’m riding the Cowboycoaster and I want off…. now!

  • Family Road Trip

I forget how long it has been since my entire immediate family has been in the car for any length of time, but it was definitely entertaining. I opted to sit in the 3rd row of my mom’s Tahoe so I could lay down and catch some shut eye. My brother Rey drove and and my stepfather was his co-pilot. My mom, Aunt and kid brother were in the middle seat. My kid brother has no idea how friggity spoiled he is. When my brother and I were on road trips together we had I spy and 20 questions to keep us entertained on road trips. This kid has a friggity Zune, laptop, PSP, all kinds of shit that wasn’t around when we were growing up. We drove all the way to Disney World w/o all that crap. For some reason he packed his headphones in the suitcase behind my seat, and wanted to watch a movie. Leave it to my mom to ask me to give up my headphones for prince leopold. I did not want to give them up before my brother and I gave him a hard time for being a spoiled PITA. (Pain in the @$$).

My stepfather is always endlessly entertaining. When he’s around family he’s even funnier. My brother was telling a story about how my stepfather in love with http://www.hoodysnuts.com/. He’s only found them at Walgreens and he tried bringing the container into another store and asked if they had them. Plopped it down on the counter as if he was asking for a fast food order. Don’t waste his time, now.

We were staying with my bestie/her fam in San Antonio and it was lovely. I hadn’t seen my girl in a while and getting to see her gorgeous kids is always fun. Her son is so adorable. Dimples, beautiful eyes and the cutest smile. He can’t say his L’s so he calls me Rory just like my brother used to do. Awww!

Friday night my girl and I went to a bar. It was supposed to be all of us, but it ended up being me and my girl and her mom and mom’s bf. The band that played was awesome. I was highly entertained. Here’s their linky. Ma’an, I have a feeling S would love them. They were dressed up as video game stars. There was speed racer, Mario, and I have no idea what the girl was. She just looked like a hot dominatrix.

It was nice to get to see my gf, spend time with the family and play with some cute kids.

  • So I’m a make-up whore

I was going to film a tutorial on this look, but my camera battery was dead, so I had to go old school and just take some quick pics after the battery charged a bit.

    CIMG1888

I love wearing false lashes. I just don’t often have the guts to wear them to work…

    CIMG1886

    The slightly sultry kissy face.

    CIMG1885

Showing you how ridonkulous these falsies can be. Love the length of these $1 lashes.

Back to sultry.. I love how clear my skin is right now.

    Sticking with the sultry

    CIMG1877

I went for purple (parfait amour) from MAC, and threw some All that glitters in the crease. Thank you ma’an for the rec on that. It’s such a gorgeous color!

  • Tales from Sesame Street Revisited

One of my favorite books aka the first book I memorized but my mom thought I could read was There’s a Monster at the End of this Book as told by Grover from Sesame Street. I loved this book so much. I would read it to my mute brother over and over again. I’ll never forget my mom’s proud face, when she thought I was reading. She soon realized I coudn’t read, because I was reading the next page before I flipped it. Sorry, mom!

I’m not a big worrier, but this book reminds me that I worry about the silliest things sometimes. And I’ll obsess, lose sleep and it’s a bunch of ridonk. I won’t want to turn the page in the book because I fear the monster. This week’s example was Swoon’s travel plans. He had me book his travel super last minute, and in his rush he gave me the WRONG return date. Yay! So I had to reschedule his return flight. I was thinking the worst. Of course, he tells me this after he missed the return flight. Even awesomer, right?

I didn’t want to call the airline because I feared the worst. All week, I obsessed, dreaded that call. I finally made myself call this morning, and you know what the monster at the end of this story was? $30. That’s all he had to pay to change his flight. Either I’m a miracle worker when it comes to sounding like a worrier on the phone with the airline, or Delta airlines really is that awesome. Either way, I’m relieved, happy and can finally rest easy.

I can’t find an image of the last page, but it says something like, oh, the monster at the end of the book is me. And you were so scared. LOL! Silly, Lorie!

  • Beauty Review – Lush’s Jasmine and Henna Fluff-eaze

My favorite Georgia Peach calls it bringing me a pretty and that’s exactly what hubs did this evening, so I figured the best way for me to pay it forward would be to share a lovely Lush gem with you all.

Here’s my take on Lush’s fabulous hair treatment. I live in a pretty humid environment. For someone with not so thick hair, this can be treacherous. My hair will get frizzy if I don’t tackle the symptoms soon enough. My favorite in-store guru mentioned this product to me as a way to make my hair “fabulous.” Honey child, he was right!

This product completes my triad of the Lush hair care dream team for me. It is the cherry on my sundae, darling. All I had to do was rub this into dry hair and let it simmer on my hair for 20 minutes. I was watching the finale of Kell on Earth on Bravo, but that is completely optional. I then hopped into a hot shower and scrubbed it down with Lush’s Big Shampoo. I followed that with Lush’s American Cream conditioner and whoa mama, I had some knock em dead hair. I blow dried it and w/o even doing a fabulous job, my hair was smoking hot. The texture of my hair is simply amazing. It carried over until today. Normally when I wash my hair at night, my hair will be a greaseball come lunch time the next day. In testing out the combo, I found that my hair was not only frizz free, but it was voluminous/grease free all day. Thank you, baby Jesus!

I am amazed. I didn’t take a picture, to share, but I will definitely do that in the near future when I use it again. Lush’s hair care products have brought new life to my hair. I have never been disappointed. Lush, thank you!

In paying it forward, I would like to send someone a goodie bag of Lush goodies including a member of my Lush hair care dream team. How do you win? Answer one question for me. What is your favorite hair care product and why? I’ll randomly choose a winner on Friday. Thank you, lovelies!

  • Mexico Update

Mama is recovering nicely. Her surgery went well and she had absolutely no pain post-op. I was so relieved. Hubs and I visited her the night of her surgery and she was feeling wonderful. She didn’t remember seeing us the next morning, but she was still in good spirits that day. The service from her doc was top notch. He had a driver pick us up at the airport when we arrived, took us to the hotel, then took us to lunch where we had the most delicious gorditas ever. I loved the driver. He was just so sweet and with my mom and I in true form we got his life story in a matter of minutes. I truly hope he finds happiness. I know marriage isn’t for everyone, but happiness should be.

The doc himself picked my mom up from the hotel that night, did her full consult, and took her to the hospital the next day for her surgery. Curbside service. Everything was. I wanted to go to the dentist while we were down there and I’m so glad I did. I may never go to a dentist in the states again. The dentist was a referral from the dr. my mom had. He picked hubs and I up from the hotel, took us to his super nice office and did both our cleanings, then took us back to the hotel. Curbside service. Loved that dentist too. I learned something I’ve never known/learned from my dentists here. An overbite is the ideal bite. I’ve always longed for an inline bite, but that type of bite causes ridges in your upper or lower teeth and eventually causes a wear in the top or bottom teeth enamel. An overbite protects your front row teeth. I’m feeling really lucky to have my overbite.

We had a great time in Mexico. We didn’t do anything too crazy. Truth be told, it was lots of naps, playing cards with mumsy, shopping, and hanging out with that infamous friend of the family who lives in Monterrey. He took us to dinner (cabrito). Our waiter looked like a young, steamy, Marlon Brando. Had the dimples and everything. I had a lovely chat with that infamous friend while hubs was in the bathroom. He seemed settled and happy in his marriage. His children changed him and I was happy to see all those changes. Dedication to a marriage is something I always admire. I never want to be the sleep in seperate bedrooms marriage my grandparents had. I never understood that.

Our driver took hubs and I and another patient back to the airport yesterday. The patient lost her tourist visa and customs in Mexico don’t like that. She had to pay a fine. I’m thankful mama made sure me/hubs kept ours. That paper is $97 if you lose it.

Work is going to kick my ass these next few days. Bossman came into my office expecting all kinds of wonders and hopefully office boss and I will be able to achieve that. I had a drink or three tonight in anticipation. Time to turn it on.

  • Viva Mexico!

I am in Mexico right now. Id use an apostrophe but I dont see one on this silly keyboard. z is where the y should be. lolz. Anzwho, ok Ill trz to stop. My mom is having surgery today and Im praying everything goes ok. Its all cosmetic, but still. I do not want to be kanye when this is all said and done. So hubs and I are waiting and playing on the interwebs. I really want to see Avatar since I feel like Im the only one that hasnt seen that movie, but I cant seem to find a theater close by thats showing it.

Whats really funny to me right now is that I cant log in to my work email. I changed my password but I cant seem to remember it. LOLOL. I will have to fix that on Wednesday when we get back. I had my review at work on Thursday and it went well. I got dinged on communication. I dont know why you have that shocked look on your face. Hubs thought that was all too funny also. Apparently, Im a bit too straightforward. I will tell you what I think and I tend to not sugarcoat things. Thats a flaw? Menoknow.

Being on vacation is awesome. Hubs and I thought we would take a dip into the pool yesterday but the water was freezing and there wasnt a hot tub. Boo!

Our driver took us to this fabulous gordita place for lunch yesterday. My brother is going to be so jealous when he finds out. Yummy picadillo, nopalitos, poblanos. So yummz. Definitely going there again.

I guess I better get back to my vacation, but I will check in again after mamas surgery. you all.

  • LOLs

Work has been crazy busy so I only have time for the lols today…

Bossman calling hubs tiny. Hubs is 6’5″ and not a small man, but for some reason, this cracks me up. At cook-off he said he was going to just stand behind “tiny” if he ever got into any trouble.

Office boss says, “Rock on” every chance she gets. It’s between that and “You are fabulous.” Gotta love motivating statements.

Rodeo Cook-off was extra hilarious this time around. Bossman cannot dance. It’s tragic. I didn’t have my phone with me at the time, otherwise I’d have quite the video to share.

Hearing songs with lyrics like “She’s from Ala-freakin-bama” to a strong country beat is hilarious all by itself.

Bossman was supposed to be in San Antonio during cook-off, but for some reason after I told him how fabulous it is, he ended up cancelling his trip to hang out with me, my family and friends. *sigh* He ended up going all three days. When I told him I didn’t have tickets to Saturday since he gave all his tickets to me, he told me I’d have to get him into the tent we sponsored. That’s not really an LOL, but if I’d kept my wristband from Thursday, I could’ve used it all three days. and had extra tickets.

My parents wore theirs all three days so they were able to join us in the tent w/o tickets. When I noticed they still had theirs on from Thursday and it was Saturday at the time, I was floored. They’re so cute.

I introduced my close friend, Chelsea, to my bossman on Saturday as my BFF. She was so excited that I called her that, she told me today she’s going to tell Daisy the next time she’s in town. LOLOL. I introduced her as my BFF so bossman wouldn’t chastize me for not giving up my Saturday tickets.

Bossman talking to another admin. on speakerphone. He makes these faces that scream “Are you effin kidding me?” because that admin talks sooooo much about NOTHING. I finally told him the reason she does that is because of his slow Southern drawl. His reaction? Blushes and runs to his office. I’ve always loved the shy ones.

Me/office boss being so busy we don’t have time to cry about it. Bossman has us running around like chickens most of the time, but work is fun again. I love that.

Bossman calling me because he can’t get into rodeo. I try to tell him the ins/outs and he does the exact opposite of what I say. Guess he’s gotta call tiny now. LOLOL. Hubs is working rodeo tonight. He’ll probably be calling hubs for a ride home tonight too. Gotta love my boss and his work hard play hard mentality.

Chelsea at Denny’s on Saturday after cook-off. We were all tipsy, but she was a lil bit moreso since it was her bday. She wanted to eat everything. She ordered a burger, fries, bbq sauce, cheesesticks, and ate food off her hubs plate and took the burger home. She managed to update her facebook saying it was the best bday ever. Awwww!

My mom saying that I can take her to cook-off every year as her bday present. I love getting her/my stepdad out and we had a really good time together. When she gets tipsy, she gets smiley and she makes the funniest faces.
