  • 6 Week Check-in

Can you believe it? It’s been six weeks since my surgery. Wahoo! I can now eat “regular” food. I haven’t gone crazy or anything, but it’s nice to know I don’t have any restrictions. Everything has been moving along wonderfully. Last night, Jefferson and I went to dinner at this fabulous Mexican place. Best fajitas, salsa, limonada I’ve had in a long time. Beans not from a can? Hallelujah. Everything was just so fresh/delicious! They added cumin to their salsa and let me tell you, that made it the bomb dot com. I really loved it. I asked the waiter/chef/owner if that’s what it was and he told me, no one guesses that. LOL! It was seriously, so yum. I’ve lost another lb. I’ve also managed to shave 5 minutes from my time on the bike. I can now do 4 miles in 15 minutes. Super stoked. Don’t believe me? I have proof!

Last week was another milestone as I got to wear my beloved cowboy boots. The stitches along the top are pink in case you can’t tell. I’m so rodeo ready!

Guess who forgot to wear blush on Monday? *raises hand* I bought this top over the weekend. $10 on clearance and so pretty. You all know I’m a magpie and loved to be bedazzled.

I went to a Mary Kay thing Monday night and I loved their products so much. They may have a convert. I loved their skincare. My skin felt so amazing after.

Of course, before that pampering, I treated myself to another manicure. I love shellac. This is Miami Beet by OPI. It’s a beautiful plummy color. Mama likey.

My face is getting so skinny! I’m amazed each and every day.

You can see the hair color better in this picture, and some of the highlights. It hasn’t been sunny here in days. I put blush on in this pic.

  • So, when you ate at the mexican restaurant, how much could you actually eat?  I know that physically you feel fuller more quickly, but does that leave you feeling unsatisfied because you don’t get to taste as much?  I hope that makes sense, but i’m curious as to how it feels to enjoy only a couple bites of something….is that satisfying enough if you’re full?  Thanks!

  • @ShamrockLover - My husband and I split the fajitas for one and had leftovers. I can only eat about a half a cup of anything in one sitting. I did have some chips and salsa, a couple pieces of chicken, and a taste of the rice and beans. My husband has always been the king of take home boxes so when we go out to eat, he always takes home the leftovers. The one strange thing is I bet the waiters are like that’s all they’re going to eat? Really? We kind of get those looks, but we really can’t finish what is put in front of us. I actually asked him that night how he felt about that, but he had the perfect response, I don’t care. That’s all I can eat. Sometimes, if the waiter does have the guts to ask, we explain that we had surgery, but not always. Do I feel satisfied? Absolutely. My tastes have changed. I crave lean grilled meats and vegetables. Knowing that I’m eating what I’m supposed to and taking care of myself is way more satisfying than eating what and how much I was. One of the things the surgeon said over and over is that the pouch (how they refer to my new stomach) is a tool. Since I can only eat so much, it’s up to me to make the right choices so that I feel the right kind of full. As in not full from highly processed foods, chips, bread, carbs.

  • Your face does look a lot thinner! I noticed right away. And your hair looks really pretty in the last pic. I like that color.

That’s great that you feel satisfied now and that your tastes have changed. I am doing much better with eating since I started doing WW, but I still crave bad food. I’m just better about not eating it all the time like I used to.

  • Love the boots and the nail color!! I’m gonna have to look for that color!
